From Spa Song Santur by Nandkishor Muley
A pre-eminent innovator in the field of environmental art since the early 1970s, Nils-Udo creates significant structures that play with the scale of the landscape. He transforms the latent possibilities of a specific site into what he terms "a potential utopia," even if the effect is only temporary. Udo acknowledges the fundamental irony in altering the very same pure characteristics of nature to which he seeks to draw attention. He embraces this essential contradiction in his work, as well the fact that nature will ultimately wipe out his intercession and reclaim her primacy.
